UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon: REFIX Steals The Attention as the Innovative Seawater Drink

The healthy ready-to-drink beverage REFIX impressed attendees at the  UN Ocean Conference, which took place at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, from the 27th of June to the 1st of July 2022. The brand was introduced by its founder as well as an FMR Brands representative, who both summarize the event as “an outstanding experience” for ocean-based action-taking stakeholders.

After an associate-only invitation from the Portuguese Marine Bioresources Network (BlueBio Alliance) to collaborate and be present at one of their stands at the UN Ocean Conference, REFIX was in the perfect environment to be introduced as the must-have energy drink. FMR’s marketing director, Doriane Zalewski, and Raúl Anta, REFIX’s founder & chief technical officer offered REFIX drinks, promotional flyers displaying the benefits of seawater, and played a video that showcased the philosophy of the brand as well as its sustainable business model.

The brand was present at the Science & Business2Sea event, a dedicated area inside the Conference for companies and scientific institutions to promote their products and services. “Attendees were very impressed with the all-natural refreshing innovation made of 20% seawater that offers benefits such as deep hydration and quick recovery to the body after physical activity or extreme tiredness”, said Doriane Zalewski. The FMR’s marketing director also announced that a video teaser showcasing REFIX’s sea connection and its benefits will be published online on the brand’s social media platforms.

The beverage is sourced in the Spanish region of Galicia, a unique natural place without industrial pollution and that is part of the Natura 2000 Network. This special connection with the sea made REFIX the perfect drink to be represented at the Ocean Conference. “More than just using seawater as a beverage ingredient, we strongly integrate climate change into our business strategy and focus on preserving natural ecosystems and biodiversity, which goes in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life below water”, said Raúl Anta, REFIX’s founder.

The free event received around 7000 people per day and focused on the ocean future, sustainability, circular economy, and innovation, with the main theme of “Scaling up ocean action based on science and innovation for the implementation of Goal 14: stocktaking, partnerships, and solutions”.
